Truly recycled dress. Made of pants.
I got a pair of ridonculous super-flared pants at Goodwill Outlet because I liked the fabric, and it reminded me of this dress I saw on Lauren Conrad:
Here's the before on the pants:
HA!
They were clearly home-made, and pretty darn 70's. I tore the seams out, sewed them back together, and cut out McCall's 5849 (discontinued).
Anyway, here's what it turned out like!
I thought about adding some belt and strap detail like Lauren Conrad's has, but didn't have enough fabric (not surprisingly) to do little pleats and things. Next time, maybe. I did add bright yellow topstitching on the front two seams!
Stay tuned tomorrow for a tutorial based on this dress, showing you my new and wonderful (if I do say so myself) technique for invisible zipper insertion! I just figured out a new step and I'm all over it. That'll be tomorrow, and you'll recognize the dress in the pics!
